"And thou shalt set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and shalt put water therein." — Exodus 40:7 (ASV)

The laver. Compare Exodus 30:18. Its proper place was close to the door of the Tabernacle, since the priests had to wash their hands and feet at it every time that they set foot within the Tabernacle (Exodus 30:19–20).
