"And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence." — Ezekiel 11:18 (ASV)
They shall take away.— Chastened and purified by their chastisement, they would return to the land to utterly remove the abominations that had caused their exile. Historically, this was fully realized in the abomination in which idolatry, the great sin of the people, was afterward regarded by the Jews. The change of person from you to they, though so common as not necessarily to require comment, may still possibly indicate here that what is foretold would belong more to their children than to themselves.
