"Thou art the daughter of thy mother, that loatheth her husband and her children; and thou art the sister of thy sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children: your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite." — Ezekiel 16:45 (ASV)

Which loathed their husbands.— Israel, like Samaria and Sodom, being spiritually of Amorite and Hittite descent, they are represented as her sisters.

A certain difficulty arises from the statement that they, too, lothed their husbands and their children.

This difficulty is removed only by remembering that, despite their heathenism and long course of idolatry, they are still regarded as having gone astray from primeval revelation and as having proved false to the only true God whom they once had known.
