SCRIPTURE

"Yet hast thou not walked in their ways, nor done after their abominations; but, as [if that were] a very little [thing], thou wast more corrupt than they in all thy ways." — Ezekiel 16:47 (ASV)

As if that were a very little thing. —Better, you have not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations only a little, but have done more corruptly than they, etc.

This excess of wickedness is constantly charged against the Jews .

Sodom had indeed sinned grievously in its day, but more than 1,000 years had since passed. During this time, resistance to Divine admonitions led to an even more grievous depth of wickedness.

Samaria had also been carried into captivity more than a century before the time of the prophet. During this period, its people, with now and then a few short intervals of reformation, had been tending steadily downwards.

This same thought is elaborated on in the four following verses, in which the sin of Sodom is described, while that of Samaria is passed over as being sufficiently well known.
