"Moreover the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying," — Ezekiel 17:11 (ASV)

Moreover the word of the Lord. —The form of expression leaves it uncertain whether the explanation of the parable was given at the same time as the parable itself, or whether, as is more probable, a little time was allowed to elapse, during which it was to be “a riddle” to the people, that they might be the more attentive to its meaning when given to them.
