"I will seek that which was lost, and will bring back that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but the fat and the strong I will destroy; I will feed them in justice." — Ezekiel 34:16 (ASV)
The fat and the strong. —While fatness is in general an emblem of prosperity, it is frequently used in Scripture, as here, for that prosperity which produces hardness of heart and forgetfulness of God. (Acts 28:27, and other similar passages.)
With judgment.— This does not mean, as the ambiguity of the English word might suggest, with wisdom, but with righteousness and authority, as is clearly seen from the connection with the following verses.
