SCRIPTURE

"As the flock for sacrifice, as the flock of Jerusalem in her appointed feasts, so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men; and they shall know that I am Jehovah." — Ezekiel 36:38 (ASV)

The flock of Jerusalem.— The comparison is with the vast flocks of sacrificial animals accustomed to being carried to Jerusalem at the great annual feasts. The object is to give a vivid idea of the numbers of the people, but there is an especial appropriateness in the simile from the fact that these flocks were devoted to the Lord.
