"And the pavement was by the side of the gates, answerable unto the length of the gates, even the lower pavement." — Ezekiel 40:18 (ASV)
Opposite the length of the gates.— The width of the pavement was the same as the projection of the gateways into the court, that is, 44 cubits (50 cubits, less the thickness of the wall).
Lower pavement. —In contrast to the pavement of the inner court, which was upon a higher level.
