SCRIPTURE

"He that is far off shall die of the pestilence; and he that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that remaineth and is besieged shall die by the famine: thus will I accomplish my wrath upon them." — Ezekiel 6:12 (ASV)

That is far off ... that is near. —That is, all, wherever they may be, will be reached and overwhelmed by the coming judgments; yet not in such a way that we are to think of one kind of judgment as especially reserved for one class, and another kind for another. The different forms of punishment will all fall upon the people; and those who escape one will fall by another.
