Charles Ellicott Commentary Ezra 2:70

"So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinim, dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities." — Ezra 2:70 (ASV)

Some of the people. — Those of the people; placed by Nehemiah after all the others.

All Israel in their cities. —The emphasis lies in the fact that, though Judah and Benjamin contributed the largest part, it was a national revival; and the constant repetition of “in their cities” has in it the same note of triumph.
