"And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God commanded him: and Jehovah shut him in." — Genesis 7:16 (ASV)

The Lord (Jehovah) shut him in. —The assigning to Jehovah of this act of personal care for Noah is very remarkable. In the Chaldean Genesis (p. 283), the Deity commands Xisuthrus to shut himself in.
