"They are terrible and dreadful; their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves." — Habakkuk 1:7 (ASV)

Their judgment — Their “judgment” means their claim to judge the affairs of mankind. It proceeds from “themselves,” as irresponsible, recognizing no Supreme Being as the source of justice.

Their dignity, in the same way, proceeds from “themselves,” because it is self-sustained, unsanctioned by the King of kings and Lord of lords.
