Charles Ellicott Commentary Haggai 1:9

"Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith Jehovah of hosts. Because of my house that lieth waste, while ye run every man to his own house." — Haggai 1:9 (ASV)

You looked for much. —Literally, There has been a turning about for much.

I did blow upon it —that is to say, for the purpose of dispersing it. Even the little that was brought into the storehouse was decimated by God’s continued disfavour.
