"wherefore also there sprang of one, and him as good as dead, [so many] as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the sand, which is by the sea-shore, innumerable." — Hebrews 11:12 (ASV)

The stars of the sky.—Better, the stars of the heaven. (Genesis 22:17.)

And as the sand.—And as the sand by the seashore, which is innumerable (Genesis 22:17). With the first words of the verse compare Romans 4:19.
