"By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they had been compassed about for seven days." — Hebrews 11:30 (ASV)

Seven days.—It is the persistence of Israel’s obedience (in the midst, we cannot doubt, of the unmeasured contempt and ridicule of their enemies) during the seven days of almost total inaction (Joshua 6:0) that is here brought into relief.
