"And thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise." — Hebrews 6:15 (ASV)
And so, after he had patiently endured.—Better, and thus (thus being in possession of the promise and the oath of God), having patiently waited (Hebrews 6:12) he obtained the promise—the promised gift. Though some portions of the promise received a partial accomplishment during Abraham’s life, it is not this that the writer has in view. (See Hebrews 6:12, and Hebrews 11:13.)
