"I have given thee a king in mine anger, and have taken him away in my wrath." — Hosea 13:11 (ASV)
Gave ... Took. —The past tenses should be present: “I give ...” “take away.” The whole succession of Israelite kings, who generation after generation had been taken away, some by violent death, would close with Hoshea, who was to disappear as a fragment on a stormy sea (Hosea 10:7).
