SCRIPTURE

"As for the sacrifices of mine offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; but Jehovah accepteth them not: now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins; they shall return to Egypt." — Hosea 8:13 (ASV)

They sacrifice flesh ... —Should be, “They sacrifice the sacrifices of my gifts—flesh, and eat it.” This is a clear reference to the Mosaic institute. You shall go back to Egypt, says the prophet, and there you shall learn again the bitter lessons of the past—either the positive return to Egypt or the disastrous hankering after Egyptian alliances.
