Charles Ellicott Commentary Isaiah 10:16

"Therefore will the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory there shall be kindled a burning like the burning of fire." — Isaiah 10:16 (ASV)

Therefore shall the Lord ... send among his fat ones leanness. —The overthrow of the Assyrian is painted in the twofold imagery of famine and of fire (Isaiah 17:4; compare Pharaoh’s vision in Genesis 41:18-24). The “fat ones” are the warriors of the Assyrian army. The fire that burns the glory of the king is explained in the next verse as the wrath of Jehovah.
