Charles Ellicott Commentary
"Thus saith Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: Ask me of the things that are to come; concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands, command ye me." — Isaiah 45:11 (ASV)
Ask me of things to come ... — As it stands, the verse calls people to consult the Holy One of Israel, and not the oracles of the pagans, about the future, and to leave His works to His own control; this aligns with Isaiah 44:25-26.
A slight alteration of the text gives a meaning much more coherent with the immediate context: Will you question me concerning things to come, concerning my sons ... will you command me! This was what they were practically doing when they grumbled against the providence of God.
