Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"and Jehovah will guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in dry places, and make strong thy bones; and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not." — Isaiah 58:11 (ASV)
In drought. —Literally, droughts, either with the force of intensity or as meaning “dry places.”
And make fat. —Better, shall strengthen, or make supple.
Like a watered garden. —Compare Psalms 1:3, Isaiah 44:3–4, Jeremiah 31:12, in the last of which we have the exact same phrase.
