"transgressing and denying Jehovah, and turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood." — Isaiah 59:13 (ASV)

In transgressing ... —The clauses point respectively to:

1. false and hypocritical worship;
2. open apostasy;
3. sins against man, and these subdivided into:
   1. sins against truth, and
   2. sins against justice.
