Charles Ellicott Commentary
"a doubleminded man, unstable in all his ways." — James 1:8 (ASV)
The eighth verse is better joined with the seventh, and punctuated as follows: Let not that man think he shall receive anything of the Lord:—double minded, unstable in all his ways. The reason he can obtain nothing is that he is a man of two minds, and consequently uncertain in his ways. The words are apparently those of a proverb. It is useless to have, so to speak, two hearts: one lifted up to God, the other turned away. Come not to Him with a double heart .
