"Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith." — James 2:24 (ASV)
You see then how that by works . . .—Observe that St. James says a man is not justified “by faith only,” putting the adverb in the last and most emphatic position. He never denies Justification by Faith; but that imagined type of idle, speculative, theoretic faith, with no corresponding acts of love.
