"We acknowledge, O Jehovah, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against thee." — Jeremiah 14:20 (ASV)
And the iniquity. —The insertion of the conjunction weakens the force of the original. The wickedness which Israel confesses is the iniquity of its fathers, inherited, accepted, on the way to be perpetuated.
