Charles Ellicott Commentary
"Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that they shall no more say, As Jehovah liveth, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;" — Jeremiah 23:7 (ASV)
The days come, says the Lord. — See Notes on Jeremiah 16:14-15, whose words are almost a verbatim reproduction. There, however, the emphasis is primarily on the fact of the exile, here on the restoration. The Septuagint version omits them here but inserts them, where they are obviously out of place, at the end of the chapter. It was fitting for them to be repeated here, as connecting the hope that had previously been general with the personal reign of the “Branch” of the house of David.
