Charles Ellicott Commentary
"Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will perform that good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and concerning the house of Judah. In those days, and at that time, will I cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land." — Jeremiah 33:14-15 (ASV)
Behold, the days come, says the Lord ... —The words are manifestly a conscious reproduction of Jeremiah 23:5-6. In “I have promised” we may indeed trace a distinct reference to that passage. Once more the Branch of righteousness (Isaiah 4:2; Isaiah 11:1)—the coming heir of the throne of David, the true King who is to execute judgment—is put forward, as seen in the vision of the prophet’s hopes.
