"For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence;" — Jeremiah 44:13 (ASV)

I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt. —The words point, like those of Jeremiah 43:11, to a punishment that would fall on the whole of Egypt, and from which the Jews who dwelt there would find no exemption.
