"We have heard the report thereof; our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, [and] pangs as of a woman in travail." — Jeremiah 6:24 (ASV)

We have heard the fame. —Another dramatic impersonation of the cry of terror from the dwellers in Jerusalem, when they hear of the approach of the army. The imagery of the woman in travail is reproduced from Jeremiah 4:31.
