SCRIPTURE

"For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt: I mourn; dismay hath taken hold on me." — Jeremiah 8:21 (ASV)

For the hurt ... — Now the prophet again speaks in his own person. He is crushed in that crushing of his people. His face is darkened, as one who mourns (Joshua 5:11).
