Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; Yea, thou shalt search [about thee], and shalt take thy rest in safety." — Job 11:18 (ASV)
Thou shalt dig about thee. —Rather, you shall look around or search about you, and see that you can lie down in safety. (Compare Joshua 2:2, and Job 39:29.) The same word means, indeed, to dig and to blush; but both meanings are incongruous and inadmissible here.
