"He looseth the bond of kings, And he bindeth their loins with a girdle." — Job 12:18 (ASV)

He looseth the bond of kings. —He loosens the confederacy of kings, by which they bind themselves together, and girds them to fight against each other. Some understand it as the girdle of servitude in contrast to the girdle of state.
