"For the thing which I fear cometh upon me, And that which I am afraid of cometh unto me." — Job 3:25 (ASV)
For the thing which I greatly feared ... — . It means that he had always kept in mind the uncertainty and instability of earthly things, and yet he had been overtaken by a calamity that mocked his carefulness and exceeded his apprehensions.
