"If they hearken and serve [him], They shall spend their days in prosperity, And their years in pleasures." — Job 36:11 (ASV)

They shall spend their days in prosperity. —It is, perhaps, no easier to reconcile this teaching of Elihu’s with the actual facts than it is to reconcile the notions of Job’s friends regarding direct retribution in life.
