SCRIPTURE

"So Jehovah blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: And he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she-asses." — Job 42:12 (ASV)

Fourteen thousand sheep. —The number of Job’s livestock here is exactly double those in Job 1:3.

All his friends had promised that Job’s end would be blessed (Job 5:24 and following; Job 8:7–20 and following; Job 11:16 and following; Job 22:27 and following). However, this promise was hindered by a condition that entailed the falsehood of Job's entire previous life.

This unjust imputation of falsehood to Job was an offense against God’s truth, and He regarded it as such. This meant that truth had to be violated for God’s justice to stand, which was the greatest possible offense and indignity to Divine justice.
