Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"So they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury." — John 19:40 (ASV)
And wound it in linen clothes with the spices.—Compare Notes on Luke 24:12. The same word does not occur, but the Jewish manner of burial has also been illustrated in the Note on John 11:44.
