"But he spake of the temple of his body." — John 2:21 (ASV)

But he spoke.—Literally, was speaking. This is the solution to the enigma as the disciples understood it in the subsequent history. It is remarkable that we have the interpretation of the spiritual temple in Mark 14:58 (see Note there, and compare John 4:21; John 4:23).
