Charles Ellicott Commentary John 4:19

"The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet." — John 4:19 (ASV)

But who can it be who thus enters her mind and reads the pages of her memory as if it were a book? He must be like one of those from long ago about whom she has heard. The tone of reverence prevails again, "Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet."
