SCRIPTURE

"Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. The man believed the word that Jesus spake unto him, and he went his way." — John 4:50 (ASV)

Go your way.—His faith is to be strengthened and is to pass beyond a trust in aid through bodily presence. Jesus will not go down, but he himself is to go with the assurance, “Your son lives.” Up to this point, he had believed based on the testimony of others, but he too now believes because of the word of Christ Himself.

Had spoken to him.—Better, spoke to him. The word he believed was that spoken then.
