"And he was sore athirst, and called on Jehovah, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance by the hand of thy servant; and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised." — Judges 15:18 (ASV)

He was extremely thirsty. —It was in the heat of harvest time, and he had pursued the Philistines until he was exhausted.
