SCRIPTURE

"And Jehovah spake unto Aaron, saying," — Leviticus 10:8 (ASV)

And the Lord spake unto Aaron. —Since half of the members of the priesthood had thus been struck down, and the other half were not allowed to mourn for the departed, Aaron, the chief of the survivors, might have thought that God was altogether displeased with the newly created pontificate.

Therefore, to comfort him and also to restore the prestige of this sacred office in the eyes of the people, who had witnessed the disobedience and punishment of the religious officials, the Lord, who until now had made all such communications to Moses, now honours Aaron by speaking to him directly.
