SCRIPTURE

"And whatsoever goeth upon its paws, among all beasts that go on all fours, they are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcass shall be unclean until the even." — Leviticus 11:27 (ASV)

And whatsoever goes upon his paws. —Rather, and whatsoever goes upon his palms, that is, those animals whose feet are not divided into two parts, but which have feet with fingers like a hand, such as the lion, the bear, the ape, the wolf, the cat, etc.
