Charles Ellicott Commentary Leviticus 5:12

"And he shall bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take his handful of it as the memorial thereof, and burn it on the altar, upon the offerings of Jehovah made by fire: it is a sin-offering." — Leviticus 5:12 (ASV)

And the priest shall take. — After he separated a handful of the flour, which was burnt on the altar as a memorial to the Lord , the officiating priest consumed the rest.

According to the offering made by fire. — Better, upon the offering made by fire. (See Leviticus 4:35.)
