Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;" — Luke 1:71 (ASV)
That we should be saved from our enemies.—Literally, salvation from our enemies, in apposition with the horn of salvation of Luke 1:69. The “enemies” present to the thoughts of Zacharias may have been the Roman conquerors of Judea; the Idumean House of Herod may have been among those who hate.
