Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"Now as he spake, a Pharisee asketh him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat." — Luke 11:37 (ASV)
A certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him.—On the act, and the feeling which it implied, see Note on Luke 7:36. The word translated “dine” implies a morning or midday meal, as distinct from the supper of the evening.
