"So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." — Luke 12:21 (ASV)

So is he that lays up treasure for himself.—See Note on Matthew 6:19. To be rich towards God finds its explanation in the language, probably suggested by it, which instructs us to be rich in good works (1 Timothy 6:18).
