"but in the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all:" — Luke 17:29 (ASV)

It rained fire and brimstone.—The combination of the two Greek words is found in the LXX. version of Genesis 19:24, and obviously suggested a similar combination here and in Revelation 14:10; Revelation 20:13; Revelation 21:8.
