Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"And he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets shall be accomplished unto the Son of man." — Luke 18:31 (ASV)
Then he took unto him the twelve.—See Notes on Matthew 20:17-19; Mark 10:32–34. St. Luke, like St. Mark, passes over the parable of the Labourers in the Vineyard. The insertion of the reference to the prophecies of the Passion is, on the other hand, peculiar to him, and is, perhaps, connected with the prominence given to those prophecies in Luke 24:27; Luke 24:44–45.
