Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"saying, Go your way into the village over against [you]; in which as ye enter ye shall find a colt tied, whereon no man ever yet sat: loose him, and bring him. And if any one ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say, The Lord hath need of him." — Luke 19:30-31 (ASV)
Go you into the village opposite you.—The agreement with St. Matthew and St. Mark is remarkably close.
Because the Lord has need of him.—See Note on Matthew 21:3 regarding the meaning of the word “Lord” as used in this way.
