SCRIPTURE

"And he said unto them, How say they that the Christ is David`s son? For David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand," — Luke 20:41-42 (ASV)

How say they that Christ is David’s son?—Better, that the Christ. See Notes on Matthew 22:41-46; Mark 12:35–37. The implied subject of the verb is clearly, as in Mark, “the scribes.” Luke agrees with Mark in not giving the preliminary question, What think ye of Christ?..., which we find in Matthew.
